Mox, The Dragon Run 2025 Short Course
The event is an international surfski and outrigger championship which takes place in Hong Kong on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The Short Course race will be open to single and double surf skis, OC1s and OC2s and sea kayaks. The course is 10km in length and will start at St. Stephen's Beach, proceed to a buoy near the yellow marker at Cape D'aguilar, and then finish at St. Stephen's Beach. While it is shorter than the long course, it can be very challenging if the 

seasonal monsoon winds are blowing. This is a race for intermediate paddlers, not novice or beginner paddlers. Please see Mox, The Dragon Run website for the course map and Google Earth link.

 

VENUE:
Start and finish will be held at the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) St. Stephen’s Beach. The complete schedule will be provided closer to the race date.  Boats can be stored safely at HKFYG prior to the event and for two weeks after the race.

 

RACE FEES

HK$880 (early bird fee) per person paid before September 25, 2025. HK$1,000 and no race shirt after September 25, 2025. Race numbers, shirt, and cap must be collected prior to the event at a venue below. Payment by FPS, bank transfer and credit card is accepted.

Please register and pay each paddler separately under TEAM. As you cannot use the same team name twice, please add an additional character after the team name. This will be amended for the confirmation list, e.g Coolpaddlers and Coolpaddlers1

 

CRITICAL INFORMATION
This race is for experienced paddlers with open ocean experience. If the Race Director believes that, based on your past race experience, you may not be able to complete the course safely or in a timely fashion, your entry may not be approved. The Race Director reserves the right to refuse entry at any stage of the event if they believe that you pose a danger to yourself or others. There is a section on the entry form to describe your open ocean paddling experience. Your entry fee will be refunded if you are denied. Please email us if you're not sure about your level of ability. 

 

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
If you must cancel, please notify us as soon as possible at racing@hongkongdragonrun.com.hk or WhatsApp (852) 93277372. Cancellations prior to midnight October 31st will be refunded less $100 admin fee. No refunds will be granted after that time.

 

MANDATORY SAFETY BRIEFING
DATE: Friday, November 7, 2024 TIME: ZOOM safety briefing 7:45 pm. The final boat and safety equipment check will take place before the race starts at the HKFYG St Stephen’s Beach

Mox THE DRAGON RUN 2025 Liability Waiver In consideration of being allowed to participate in the Mox, The Dragon Run Surf Ski and Outrigger Championships 2025 (“the Race”), I hereby agree to the following: 1. Prior to participating in the Race, I will inspect the facilities and equipment supplied by Thirsty Horse Ltd (“the Organisers”) and will assume personal responsibility thereof. 2. I acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in activities that involve risk of damage to personal property and/or serious injury to myself or others, including permanent disability and death, and/or severe social and economic losses which might result not only from my own actions, inactions or negligence, but the actions, inactions or negligence of others, or from the conditions during the Race, or from the performance of any equipment used in connection with the Race. Further, there may be other risks not known or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. 3. I assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for all expenses, medical or otherwise, following any such damages, injury, permanent disability or death. 4. I hereby release, waive, discharge and agree not to sue Thirsty Horse Limited, the Organisers or Race Officials and I hereby release, waive, discharge and agree not to sue any persons officially assisting with the staging of the race, or any of the other participants or sponsors, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “releasees”, from any and all liability to me, my heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury, including death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the acts, omissions or negligence of the releasees or otherwise. 5. This waiver may not be modified in any way. If any part of this waiver is determined to be invalid by law, all other parts of this waiver shall remain valid and enforceable. I have read this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement, fully understand its terms,and sign it freely and voluntarily without any inducement.
