Mox, The Dragon Run 2025
The event is an international surfski and outrigger championship which takes place in Hong Kong on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The course will start at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club and will then proceed SE to the Ninepins Islands, then SW past Cape D’Aguilar and then to the finish line at St Stephen's Beach. The course will cover approximately 23.5km and, with the seasonal NE monsoon winds hopefully blowing, should see 10-20 knot winds and great downwind but very technical conditions for the majority of the race. VENUE:
Start - Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club.  Finish - St Stephen's Beach.  Boat transport will be provided from VRC Deepwater Bay to the race start. The complete schedule will be provided closer to the race date.  Boats can be safely stored at the finish line for one week after the race. After party and prize giving at St. Stephen's Beach.

 

 

RACE FEES

HK$1,350 (early bird fee) per person paid before September 25, 2025. HK$1,500 and no race shirt after September 25, 2025. Race numbers, shirt, and cap must be collected prior to the event at Escapade Sports (see below). Payment can now be made by Payme/FPS to +852 93277372 Claudia Tarr, as well as by bank transfer and credit card. See details when registering.

DOUBLE TEAMS SS2/OC2

Please register and pay EACH paddler separately under TEAM. As you cannot use the same team name twice, please add an additional character after the team name. This will be amended for the confirmation list, e.g Coolpaddlers and Coolpaddlers1. This will allow both paddlers' details to be collected.

 

PRIZES: 

Equal prize money for men and women OC1 and Surfski (1st - 5th) US$2500, US$1500, US$500, US$300, US$200

Prize giving will be at the race finish at St. Stephens Beach and will include free food and drinks.  

 

CRITICAL INFORMATION
EXPERIENCE & CUT-OFF TIME: This race is for paddlers with open ocean experience only. The cutoff time is 50 mins to Ninepins Island and 3 hours for race completion. If the Race Director believes that you may not be able to complete the race in close to 3 hours, your entry may not be approved.  The Race Director's decision is final. There is a section on the entry form to describe your open ocean paddling experience. Please email us if you're not sure about your level of ability. 

 

MANDATORY SAFETY BRIEFING
DATE: Friday, November 7, 2025 TIME: ZOOM safety briefing 7 pm. The final boat and safety equipment check will take place before the race starts at the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club.

 

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
If you must cancel, please notify us as soon as possible at racing@hongkongdragonrun.com.hk or WhatsApp (852) 93277372. Cancellations prior to midnight October 31, 2025, will be refunded less the admin fee of $150. No refunds will be granted after that time.

Liability Waiver In consideration of being allowed to participate in the Mox, The Dragon Run 2025 (“the Race”), I hereby agree to the following: 

1. Prior to participating in the Race, I will inspect the facilities and equipment supplied by Thirsty Horse Ltd (“the Organisers”) and will assume personal responsibility thereof. 

2. I acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in activities that involve risk of damage to personal property and/or serious injury to myself or others, including permanent disability and death, and/or severe social and economic losses which might result not only from my own actions, inactions or negligence, but the actions, inactions or negligence of others, or from the conditions during the Race, or from the performance of any equipment used in connection with the Race. Further, there may be other risks not known or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. 

3. I assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for all expenses, medical or otherwise, following any such damages, injury, permanent disability or death. 

4. I hereby release, waive, discharge, and agree not to sue Thirsty Horse Limited, Organisers or Race Officials. I accept that the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club and Marina, its representatives and employees will not be responsible for any liability whatsoever arising out of any accident or injury to participants or to any other person or for loss of or damage to any property anywhere within the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club; and I hereby release, waive, discharge and agree not to sue any persons officially assisting with the staging of the race, or any of the other participants or sponsors, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “releases”, from any and all liability to me, my heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury, including death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the acts, omissions or negligence of the releases or otherwise. 

5. This waiver may not be modified in any way. If any part of this waiver is determined to be invalid by law, all other parts of this waiver shall remain valid and enforceable. I have read this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement, fully understand its terms, and sign it freely and voluntarily without any inducement.
