Event notes

The Big Hurt originally took place in Port Angeles, Washington between 1997 and 2004. After a decade hiatus, the event has been resurrected by new directors and Title Sponsor Mittelstaedt Chiropractic. The Big Hurt is a multi-sport race that includes four legs:

* A 16.5-mile mountain bike that takes place in the Foothills above Port Angeles
* A 3-mile kayak in Port Angeles Harbor
* A 30-mile road bike that goes west out of Port Angeles and crosses the Elwha River and visits Freshwater Bay, as well as the lower parts of Kelly Ridge on Dan Kelly and Eden Valley Roads.
* A 10-K Run, out and back on the Olympic Discovery Trail along the waterfront

Participants can race solo in Iron Division or as a relay team. Teams can be 2-4 people. Awards will be given for overall top 3 men and women in the Iron Division, and top three overall teams. The price of the event is $85 for Iron Division, and $220 per team.

A portion of event proceeds are donated to the Peninsula Trails Coalition, a local non-profit organization dedicated to the construction, maintenance, and promotion of the Olympic Discovery Trail and Olympic Adventure Trail.

You must register by Sept 5 to get a t-shirt. No refunds after Sept 1.
