2026 Galactic Grinder 3/6Hour MTB Race at Area 51

• This is an endurance race. Categories have been chosen to ensure it is a proper endurance test while giving all skill levels an opportunity to compete and have fun. The goal is to see what you can do. You don't have to race the full 3 or 6 hours to enjoy the event. If a category ends up being too large or too small we may add or combine a category or two. But until then, these are the categories.
• Junior Race Categories are $35, all other Categories are $45.
• An "Open" category is open to either male or female racers of any age unless otherwise specified.
• Regarding Age Categories.
  • • Juniors are 15 and Under
    • ALL members on a 45+ teams must be a minimum of 45 by 12/31/26.
• A team is limted to 2 or 3 racers but they race in the same category. Co-ed teams race in the Open category.
• Race Laps:
  • • Juniors and Beginners laps are 8.0 miles and bypass the Gemini climb and Apollo descent.
    • Intermediate and Experts laps are 9.5 miles and include the Gemini climb and Apollo descent.
• CUTOFF TIMES:
  • 3 Hour: For ALL 3 Hour categories, the START line will close at 2 1/2 hours. No racers will be allowed to start another lap after 2 1/2 hours. All racers on the course after the 2 1/2 hour cut off will have no time limit to complete the last lap.
  • 6 Hour: For ALL 6 Hour categories, the FINISH line will close at 6 hours exactly. Only completed laps prior to the end of the 6 hour mark will count towards your race total. Postions will be determined by highest last and total time to complete.
• TEAM NAME in registration referers to your RELAY TEAM not your Club Team. DO NOT enter your Club Team.
• Review the chart below to determine what distance/category you want to race. 
• This is not a USAC event. No licenses are required.
• All racers sign up individually. The first person to sign up for their team creates the team name which will be available by pop-up menu for the next racers to pick and sign up for that team.
• Race age is age on 12/31/26. If it is determined that you signed up for the wrong category you will be moved to the correct category.
• Female Categories will consist of those whose sex was assigned Female at birth. The Open Categories will consist of all other racers including any female racers that choose to be placed in the Open field.
• Racers are welcome to register for more competitive fields outside thier age group, ie Juniors can "race up" and  "age groups" can "race down".
