GPC Keats Chop

Welcome to the registration page for the fourth annual Keats Chop Small Boat Paddle Race in Gibsons, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, BC!  This event is being hosted by the Gibsons Paddle Club.  Check out our GPC Keats Chop 2026 Facebook page for more information.  

Note - all racers must be able to perform a self rescue.

Event Details 

• Race Date - July 11, 2026
• Registration Deadline - Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (early registration June 1)

• Check in location - Gibsons Paddle Club located at 675 Prowse Road, Gibsons
• Check in table opens at 8:30.  All racers must check in by 10 am.
• Mandatory Race Meeting at 10:30.
• Race Start - 11 A.M.  The start may be divided into 2 or 3 waves.

Choose from one of three courses:

• • Recreational Short Course - 5 km along the shore.
  • Intermediate course of  8 - 10 km.  Participants must finish within 90 minutes.
    
  • Open ocean 14 km Long Course for outriggers and surfskis.  Participants must finish within 2 hours. 
    
    
• Participants will be provided with a high visibilty race T-shirt that they MUST wear during the race.  In order to ensure a choice of size, participants must register by June 1, 2026.  There is a sizing chart on the GPC Keats Chop 2026 Facebook page.  
• Safety Boats will be on course.
• Waiver forms will be emailed to all registrants and must be submitted at check in.
• Race numbers will be provided.

• Post race BBQ included with registration fee.  Extra meals may be purchased for $12.
• Draw prizes.

• Summer weekends are busy on the Sunshine Coast.  We suggest that paddlers coming from out of town book ferry reservations and accomodation early!
• Limited to 70 paddlers.

Race Registration Fees

$80 per person (tandem teams $160).  Early registration fee of $75 per person (tandem teams $150) if registered by June 1, 2026.  The registration fee includes a high visibility shirt that must be worn during the race.

Entries are not finalized until the fee is paid.
