Black Eyed Pea 10k & 10k Relay

Event notes

Brrrr - It's chilly out in January but this event will keep you warm & toasty.

Are you ready for our first live event (non virtual) in 2021? If so, we've got just the one for you: ring in the New Year with other running/ jogging enthusiasts in beautiful Mathews County Virginia. Sign up to enjoy the New Year 2021 edition of the Black Eyed Pea 10k Relay run in downtown Mathews Virginia.

Located at 239 Main Street in Mathews, VA, the Mathews County Visitor Information Center (MCVIC) is the the host site of this New Year's themed race. This race follows a 6 mile loop that will be split up by you and a partner: you get to pick your own transition point along the course. OPTION: run the entire 6 miles yourself at no added cost.

Black Eyed Pea 10k Relay race safety precautions.
For the safety and comfort of racers and volunteers, the race director & MCVIC have agreed upon the following precautions. Read through these thoroughly and don't hesitate to send questions on race security to
vttrunners@gmail.com.

Masks indoors - race check-in will be just outside the Visitor Center (covered porch), as will the post-event snacks & drinks and awards. Access to the indoors is available on an as-needed basis (restroom use, for example).

Social distancing - the Visitor Center will be open during the event. HOWEVER due to current VA state safety guidelines, we are limiting & monitoring entry indoors to ensure we do not exceed a 25-person limit. Please help ensure we stay in good standing with our hosts by limiting your building access.

The race start will be divided into lanes spaced six feet apart. Groups of 4-6 people will take off followed closely by another group until all of the first leg-runners are on the course. There will be one water stop along the route. This event will be chip timed: as you finish your leg(s), just transfer your chip to your partner
