SUPsect are hosting what, due to a couple of postponements, is now the 2nd race of the EASI Winter Series on Saturday 8th February 2020…

Conditions allowing, the planned course is similar to last year on the tidal River Crouch in Essex – c.7.5km from Hullbridge to Battlesbridge and back – plus a shortened 5k route for the novice fleet. For safety reasons in February, all entrants must be confident they can complete the distance standing up and unaided in typical winter conditions. All racers will be required to carry a mobile phone in a waterproof case.

Full details TBC in the week approaching the event, but registration is planned from 10am at Hullbridge, SS5 6ND / www.supsect.com/hullbridge, ahead of a c.11am briefing and c.11.30 race start.

Race categories are the same for the whole series.

Novice Challenger (up to 12'6”): Has never raced outside club, EASI races, or novice level at the British SUP Club Championships (ie; novice 12'6" or under 12' fleets)

Racer (up to 14ft): Has raced nationally but hasn’t made podium (ie; GB SUP, UK SUP, BSCC main fleets)

Experienced racer (14ft): Regularly races and has made podium at national races (GB SUP, UK SUP and BSCC age group podiums included)

These are guidelines rather than strict rules, but we would like everyone to enter in the spirit of them – if you’re not sure which category to race, please ask your club captain or message us. EASI reserves the right to ask paddlers to change category as we see fit.
