Event notes
Each of Bray Lake’s Winter Ice Breaker Series events is a stand-alone race. We know some of you will approach it with a little apprehension at first so we will also run regular coaching sessions through the season and a mix of event types to cater for all from complete beginners, novices and the more experienced paddler.

Due to the increased number of choices available for race categories in paddle boarding over recent years we have made a decision to trial some changes to our club race series in the hope of making the racing fairer, less complicated and more competitive.
Taking inspiration from marathon kayaking we are going to trial a division-based system for our summer race series. Racers will be split between 5 divisions which are set based on the time you complete a 2km time trail. This means that you will be racing against people that go roughly the same pace as you, regardless of board type, age or gender.
As normal to get a series finish you will need to complete 3 out of 5 races and must race on the same board throughout the series.
Division 1 – 13:29 and under
Division 2 – 13:30 – 14:59
Division 3 – 15:00 – 16:29
Division 4 – 16:30 – 17:59
Division 5 – 18:00 and over

Before registering you will need to complete a 2km time trial on the board you wish to complete the series in. You will then know which division to register in. You can either complete the time trial at Bray Lake or independently.

As an added incentive, we are offering discount by booking the whole series in advance:
• Booking in advance – Members £5 per race or Non Members £10
• Booking whole series (5 events) you will get one event for free!

You will still be able to register & pay on the day however this will cost £10 (members and non-members) and you’ll need to allow some extra time.

We will be also be making an effort to start briefings at 10am sharp for each race and would encourage anyone who is wishing to take part to arrive at the latest by 09.30am.
