The SUPerior Challenge takes place along the shores of the Lake Superior, just outside of Thunder Bay. The races will begin at 11:00 AM from the Silver Harbour Conservation Area on Lake Superior on July 15, 2018. Please arrive by 9:30 AM to sign in. Racers will paddle around Mary Island. Racers on 14′ and 12’6″ boards will paddle 2 laps (approx. 7.5km). Boards under 12’6″ will paddle 1 lap (approx. 4km).

For anyone interested, there is an early morning/pre-race yoga session at 9:00 AM. Sign up begins at 8:30 AM the morning of the event. There is also a pre-party Saturday evening at Lake View Lodge, close to the event site. Following the race on Sunday afternoon, there will a possible downwinder sprint race and/or surf expression session if conditions are ideal.

PFDs and whistles are mandatory as per Transport Canada regulations. Most of the waist belt style PFDs have whistles inside with the vest. Double check to make sure you have one. Board leashes MUST be worn at all times during the race or you will be disqualified.

Specific race information packages will be emailed to registrants prior to each race with additional details.

The SUPerior Challenge is part of the Central Canada SUP CUP Race series put on by The Hardwear Co, Hardcore Surf and Paddle Co, and Natri Bros. Great shops that support the sport of paddleboarding in their communities.
