The 25k and relay is a trail course and is often muddy and slick in the fall. Terrain varies from 4 wheeler trails to single track and ski trails. The trail is very pretty with all the DANGERS of rural Alaska. No one under 18 allowed without an adult running with them. Please be prepared for remote, wild conditions. This is Alaska. Bear spray is encouraged.

The 5K is on the bike path. Both races start at the Flying Squirrel Bakery mile 11 and finish in downtown Talkeetna.

25k and relay start at 10:00AM

5K Start is 12:00 Noon

The Bun To Bun trail 25k/relay and 5K fun run began as a way for the Talkeetna PTA to encourage healthy activity, and to raise money for it healthy snack and salad bar programs. Our first official run was is 2014 and began and finished at two bakeries; the Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe and the Talkeetna Roadhouse.

We have expanded the mission of the Bun To Bun to help support other programs the PTA is undertaking to improve the quality of the educational experience for the students of Talkeetna Elementary School. Currently, our most ambitious project is to expand our art teacher program to provide a full-time art teacher for the school. Without this program there would be very little art education in the school and nearly no exposure to fine art history or techniques.
Additionally, studies show that arts in school help students increase performance all areas of academics.

The Talkeetna PTA realizes it is critical for all children to have an understanding of what a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits are. As well as having expanded access to lots of varieties of fruits and vegetables. With our healthy snack program we attempt to expose the children to a wide variety of healthy nutritious foods. The free salad bar program we provide is currently we offer a a free salad bar 2 days a week for all.

Please help the Talkeetna PTA succeed in providing these and many other services for the children of Talkeetna.
