Route: Carleton-Almonte Promenade [Carleton Place]

We have at least two tour leaders for this ride, and we will break into smaller groups, based on rider experience and speed level.

Minimum 32mm tires are recommended. (But 28s will work for experienced riders) The ride has no unmaintained or “technical” sections, and is suitable for newcomers to gravel riding. Get a different view of the Carleton Place-Almonte area. Head out of Carleton Place on the Ottawa Valley Rail rail trail, and the TransCanada Trail. Ride by the river through picturesque Appleton, then on gravel roads through farmland. Get introduced to a new way to enter and leave Almonte along the Mississippi River. Then head onto quiet, scenic roads on the edge of the Lanark Highlands. Return to Carleton Place on pretty Quarry Road.

You must be a current OBC member and have completed the OCA COVID-19 waiver to participate. (See below for details.)

The ride is a “no drop”, enjoy the scenery, touring ride. We are still hoping the experienced, hardcore gravel riders will come out, socialize, and share their love of gravel riding with newer riders. We don’t ride in a pack or paceline, everyone gets their own space on the road. We also make frequent stops to regroup, as we expect that riders will navigate different sections of road at different speeds.
