Webscorer PRO v2.5 adds support for the Radiant Sensors RFID reader which is inexpensive and comes built-in with a WiFi hotspot for super easy setup.  After extensive testing, we’re now ready to recommend the following hardware for use in multiple sports:

You'll need to have the PRO Automated timing subscription for RFID chip-timing - at USD $250 / year.  If you're a new Webscorer PRO user, you can try PRO free for 30 days - the trial version supports all features, and is only limited to max 10 racers.

You’re welcome to use any RFID chip, but where it’s practical, we recommend the reusable DualTag chip which is super sensitive and does not require as many antennas for a 100% detect rate.  The DualTag chipcan be ordered through the Webscorer website (order link available soon).  The DualTag costs $7 per chip.

Based on our testing, the 20Ah battery will give you a 25+ hours of continuous operation with 2 antennas - slightly less with 4 antennas. 

The number of antennas required depends on:

- Type of RFID chip used
- Placement of the chip on the racer
- Width of finish line
- Orientation of the antennas

Notes on chip & antenna placement:

 - The rule of thumb in RFID chip timing is that the antenna must “see” the chip face-on
 - A side antenna is unlikely to detect a bib-attached chip if the bib is on the chest
 - A chip will not read if the racer’s own body, or another racer’s body is in between the chip and the antenna
 - A single antenna will work if you can control the exact spot where the chip is placed on the racer
   (e.g. on the helmet, always on the left ankle facing out etc.)
 - Multiple antennas can help cover scenarios where the racers may not always follow the instructions where to place the chip
