Event notes
A fundraiser with proceeds going towards the payment of Village of Pilger bonds.

Pilger has a combined $1.7 million in bonds needing to be paid. None of these bonds are a result of the tornadoes, all were pre-existing and the payment amounts are based on residents property values as of January 1st of the previous tax year. For those residents choosing to rebuild in Pilger the property value of a newly constructed home will be considerably higher than the previous property value resulting in higher taxes. The value of a newly constructed home in some cases will be nearly double the value of the previously destroyed home. The concept is simple: the value of your home rises, so do your taxes.

This is not a timed race. The purpose of this race is for you to complete your pledged running/walking distance to the best of your ability along with a pledged donation to the Village of Pilger to help assist with the payment of village bonds. There will be one prize awarded to the participant that raises the most money from their pledges.
- There is a $20 minimum pledge per runner or walker.
- You must bring your pledge donation(s) the “day of” to packet pick-up. This is due to the nature of the pledge system. Technically you can be collecting your pledges up until race day. Get out there and start collecting! Cash or check will be the only form of payment accepted.
- WALKERS will start and finish at the Pilger Park. There will be a 1 mile and 2 mile route allowing you to complete your pledged distance. The distance will be unique to each walker. There will be volunteers and signage along the course for your assistance.
- RUNNERS will be transported to the start located at Pilger Sand & Gravel. Each runner will then run their pledged distance on a route following the “path” of the tornado. Since each runners distance is unique you will be instructed of your turnaround point at packet pick-up and again at the start ensuring you finish back in Pilger.
