Race report

Another multi-year personal best, due to some very easy high intensity interval training, literally just minutes a weeks. My best first lap, at 13:16, and my best second lap at 12:50. I could "feel" the training taking over from the first stride "out the gate." I was striding faster and breathing more regularly and robustly. Brief intensity trumps duration.

Race report

Busy two weeks. Only one longer run (5 miles), and no biking. However, I was doing a lot of short runs with 25-second hill sprints (high intensity intervals). Big improvement on second half today, and second-best time overall: 13:40 and 13:00 = 26:40. Just a few minutes of interval training, a few days a week, is enough. I am pleased with the results.

Race report

Best time yet. I have bumped up the high intensity work and hill sprints, and have actually been running SHORTER distances! This fits the research, which keeps saying that intensity produces more results than distance. (13:23 + 13:14 - still finishing strong.)

Time: 27:38.6

Race report

This was a good, solid run, with not very much recent training, but a higher proportion of shorter, higher intensity training. Once again, the second half was faster than the first (~14:10 & 13:30).

Race report

Really off today. The 80-minute workout last night may not have helped. Better second half, though (14:40 + 13:47 = 28:27).

Race report

It was wet and chilly today, but this run felt very good, strong all the way through. It is my third best time so far. 13:50 and 13:30 splits, more or less, and it's always better to have a faster second half.

Race report

A decent run on a cool, rainy morning. Strong finish, good hill times. 13:55 + 13:35.

Race report

I put in over 2-1/2 hours of training the evening before, which may have been excessive. My best 1.6 K time today was running over before the race, because I was late (13:22)! If I'd kept that up, I could have finished in 26:44, but it was not to be today! A little disappointed in today's result, but the pace of training will help in the long run. (Split times 13:55 & 14:10.) Go, Team CARIBU!

Race report

Hmm. The time is off this week. I finished in about 26:55 (13:45 & 13:10). Also, it can be hot and sweaty, being a superhero. Glad Clay Hammett finally got to run.

Race report

We need a few more runners in this category! I am on Team CARIBU. I was fresh from hill training in Arizona for this one. It will be hard to create a "pattern of improvement" from here.
